Not too long ago, Highland Middle School faced scrutiny after a Black female principal, Kristie O’Bannon was set up to fail, according to her lawsuit. Not long after, a white male teacher at the same school received disparate treatment relative to his peers for similar circumstances. In fact, no one seemed interested in knowing the truth or doing the right thing. Could it be they needed data that took the focus off the number of Black female employees who are treated unfairly or terminated without fair due process? Another tactic, which, like Black Barriers, uses race as an “excuse” to “prove” it “can’t be racism,” because “we did white people the same way” (after the fact).
